Using the ShadowCalculator.eu service we have found out that the shadow cast by the proposed trainwash might seriously effect the backyards of residents. Since GTR has not released any information with respect to shadowing, these are estimates based on what the meagre amount GTR has told us about the height and placement of the trainwash.
The following images show estimates of when the shadow might first reach resident’s back fences and then later when might fully cover backyards. We have calculated for today, Midsummer, October when the trainwash is supposed to be operational, and Midwinter.

Today, Feb 17
If the trainwash existed today, shadowing might start at 14:43 and our backyards might be in shade by 15:38
Midsummer, June 22
By Midsummer, when we would be hoping to enjoy our gardens in the afternoon and evening, shadowing might start at 16:22 and our backyards might be in shade by 19:00.
By October, when GTR hopes the trainwash will be operational, shadowing might start at 15:10 and our backyards might be in shade by 16:47.
Midwinter, December 22
By Midwinter, shadowing might start at 14:01 and our backyards might be in shade by 14:43.
